Due to an exciting year of growth, we’re looking for a Learning & Development Trainer to work alongside our HR Director to lead the training division of the business whilst managing & developing our talent team consisting of our Talent & Development Coordinator and Talent Acquisition Specialist.

This key role will partner with all business areas to identify the key training requirements of the group, developing new schemes and initiatives to drive and support the growth of the business, and to support the running of the day-to-day operations. We are looking for a hands-on trainer who has a passion for delivering inspiring and influential training whilst looking for efficiencies by growing our online training offering.

 

No two days are the same in this broad & exciting role, but on a typical day you will:

  • Work closely with the HR Director and the senior management team to agree key and critical areas of development and assess future and current training needs.

  • Work with the Talent & Development team to run our Academy scheme.

  • Ensure key relationships are built and become a business partner to understand the unique elements of our business.

  • Work across with the wider business to map out training pathways to support new and existing staff.

  • Be a trusted learning expert for our business, identifying and mapping new talent, and existing talent to support the business growth.

  • Develop innovative solutions to increase engagement, reduce attrition and promote the culture of the group.

  • Create, develop, and deliver learning solutions from end to end.

  • Gather feedback on our training ensuring we deliver effective and engaging courses.

  • Pull data from our appraisals and work with our managers to undertake Training Needs Analysis across the organisation and implement structured programmes to support the overall development of our employees.

  • Oversee, develop and manage our appraisal system ensuring our appraisals are completed effectively and that the format of our reviews allows us to gather meaningful data and feedback.

  • Take ownership of our online training tools, developing and tailoring the system to deliver engaging content that fits the needs of the business.

  • Take ownership of our Talent Academy which includes, apprenticeships, placement, Destination Future (talent development programme) and mentoring scheme.

  • Build relationships with universities, school and colleges, encouraging insight days and networking events.

  • Control the levy budget, utilising any training available through apprenticeships.

  • Deliver effective reporting and data analysis.

Job requirements

To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will:

  • Be an experienced trainer with a passion for developing our people

  • Have experience working and developing training for early careers and apprentice schemes

  • Have experience managing a team successfully

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of effective training planning and delivery in a similar role

  • Be self-motivated with the ability to work on own Initiative

  • Be confident building relationships across all levels of seniority

  • Have the ability to develop and deliver engaging and influential learning solutions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Be IT Literate – Experience of online training tools would be a distinct advantage

  • Demonstrate current knowledge of effective Learning and Development methods and show passion for staying up to date with industry changes & trends

  • Be highly responsive with the ability to absorb information quickly, whilst working to deadlines

  • Be an excellent team player but can also work independently and take ownership for tasks

  • Be organised and methodical, with the ability to manage and prioritise time effectively

  • Experience in the travel industry (desired but not essential) or the ability to adapt to a new industry
