This is a remote role where the applicant must be based in Germany or Austria

As our new Project Manager, you will operate, maintain and grow the football and other sports business into your designated region. This includes managing the logistics of our sports teams and their entourage including the team, sponsors & commercial partners, officials, media and supporters with the corresponding individual needs and priorities. Alongside the travel lostics, our Project Manager will also negotiate hotel contracts, implement transportation requirements, liaise & coordinate with security & local authorities, support in the handling of the airport procedure for arrival and departure, and management of logistics at the stadium.

This is a varied & hands on role, as our new Project Manager you will:

  • Plan and deliver football and other sports operations onsite within and - if necessary - outside your designated region

  • Manage the excellent relationships with our key clients

  • Maintain and expand our portfolio of clients

  • Prepare and coordinate the UEFA draws (Champions League, Europa League etc.) for your region

  • Manage existing suppliers throughout the year to ensure best possible value creation

  • Identify potential new suppliers and partners in your region

  • Manage the budget for each operation and post event reconciliation

  • Book and invoice individual services requested by our Destination Sport colleagues

  • Create Proposals (PPT) for upcoming operations

  • Manage operations with our inhouse tool ARENA incl. invoicing

Job requirements

To be successful within this role, our ideal candidate will:

  • Have working experience in a similar position in sports, sports logistics, travel or event management industries

  • Be educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as tourism / business management / marketing / event management

  • Demonstrate excellent local knowledge and strong network of contacts

  • Showcase excellent negotiations skills towards suppliers and clients

  • Demonstrate outstanding language skills (English & German mandatory, other languages such as Spanish are a bonus)

  • Excellent at multitasking with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Have strong leadership skills to be able to lead an operation with several stakeholders involved

  • Demonstrate strong planning and execution skills

  • Excellent project and time management skills

  • Be self confident

  • Be able to effectively influence at multiple levels with excellent communication skills   

  • Be a team player, ability to work both in group situations and as an individual

  • Demonstrate creative thinking for effective problem resolution

  • Be flexible and able to travel at short notice

  • Be able to adapt & work closely with various stakeholders to achieve goals
